Its matching under-jacket (hirka, zibin) has the colors of lining and shell reversed. It&#8217;s\u00a0rare to find any women&#8217;s clothing from the late 16th century, and possibly unique to have an extant set of kaftan and under-kaftan that were designed to be worn together.<\/p>\n<p>The set was made for\u00a0Ay\u015fe Sultan (1570-1605), daughter of Murad III.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:<\/strong> Tezcan, Hu:lya. &#8220;Sixteenth and Seventeenth-Century Women&#8217;s Fashion at the Ottoman\u00a0Palace,&#8221; <em>P<\/em>, Issue 3, Spring\/Summer 2000.
