Aziz Mahmud Hüdai, one of the most famous saints of the Ottoman Empire, was born in 1541 and died in 1648. Some of his clothes, including three hırkas (dervish overgarments) and a long gömlek inscribed with mystical formulae, were preserved.
The shell is yellow wool broadcloth, and the lining is cotton. (“Diger bir hırkasi sarı renktedir, pamukla sırınmiştir ve bez ile astarlanmıştir.”)
The yellow blotches on the end of the left sleeve are an artifact of the scanning process.
