Category: Long-Sleeved Outer Kaftans

What distinguishes an inner from an outer kaftan is the cut of the front panels. On an inner kaftan, the right-hand side of the front slit falls straight from the collar to the waist, then angles outward on a slight diagonal to the bottom of the garment. The left-hand side angles outward from collar to hem. (This is usually achieved by inserting a triangular gore from waist to hem on the right side, and waist to collar on the left.) On an outer kaftan, both sides angle outward on a slight diagonal.
