Şeyh Şaban-ı Veli was a dervish who died in 1576. Some of his clothes, including his hırka (dervish overgarment) and short-sleeved cotton gömlek, were preserved. The source describes the gömlek as:
Pamuklu bezden yarım kollu, yakası yuvarlak oyulmuş ve göğsün ortasına kadar açılmış gömleği sadeliği ile dikkati çeker.
A half-sleeved cotton gömlek with an almost round collar and a slit to almost the center of the chest, which attracts attention with its simplicity. [Issendai’s translation]
